A deadline approaches
I can feel it in air
Something special is needed
Prose beyond compare
My next post is special
There’s Great Expectations
It’s time for the big one
200 posts – a celebration
Almost three years ago
I switched to Tea Trade
As a new fun place
For my rants and tirades
Friendships I’ve made
Just by writing this blog
We’ve met hundreds of people
And a small American dog*
We’ve laughed and we’ve cried
And we’ve argued and cheered
I’ve praised and condemned
Celebrated and jeered
I get advice all the time
On keywords and SEO
About linking to our on-line stores
To rake in the dough
But I want this to be a place
Where ideas can raise their head
If you want electronic junk mail
There’s always Facebook instead
Many of these vignettes
Have concerned Lady Devotea
The love for her you all show
Is very touching to me
I need to plan number 200
Make it bigger than big
A fantastic celebration
Of my favourite writing gig
So what shall I do?
Which particular style?
A conversation? A rant?
Haven’t poeted for a while.
Slip in an obscure word or two?
Camoflaged xyresic shots?
Or is that proof of my autolatry?
If proof were needed (it’s not)
Or write it as a screenplay
Maybe I should
Then sell it to Spielberg
And move to Hollywood
But this blog is only here
Because it’s read every time
And comments are welcome
(Though not from spamming swine)
Over thirteen hundred comments
Have annointed my posts
Which is something quite special
And which I’d like to toast
And the mention of toast
Leads us to tea
The lifeblood of this blog
It’s reason to be
So without further ado
I’ll go top up my tea
And work out just how Number 200
Really oughta be
Suggestions are welcome
As I beaver away
After all, we’re all friends here
And here I will stay.
*We stayed in New York with guys who had a lovely dog. And YOU try finding a rhyme at 5:40 in the damn morning when you’ve only just half a cup of Finbarr’s Revenge** under your belt. **Take that SEO guys
Nice job and when I read “Of my favourite writing gig” I saw you and your wirting playing in the Last Boy Scout and dancing a gig.
Should I be worried?
One word: Fiction.
It’s been awhile since you’ve given us a tale of tea fancy.
Hmmm: A definite ‘Maybe’.
This was rather brilliant again dear friend! Over 1300 comments?! We clearly don’t know when to shut up.
What I like best? Your wickedly witty words – I like your clever humor more than anything. I also love your travel posts, but since you’re not traveling right now, I’d say humor tops the list. It’s also nice to see your softer, gentle side – such an intriguing contrast to Robert-the-Bull in the China tea shop.
Superb blog! Do you have any recommendations for aspiring writers?
I’m a filthy spammer, but since you’ve pulled my details out of this post, I’ll get no benefit at all!
