The Gift of Tea

With Easter coming, I’ll be giving the gift of tea.

I have obtained some china or porcelain eggs, with a band around the middle, that open up.

A bit like this one.

And I’ll be shoving tea inside.

I’ll be creating a special Easter Blend for this purpose. and as I can only go up as far as the join, I”ll be hand-making some small chocolate eggs and popping one on top of the tea.

I know that’s probably not a real surprise, and it certainly won’t surprise my friends and family.

They are all used to my obsession.

One year I gave everybody a tea pot for Christmas. I also put a lot of thought into which teas I would give with which pots to which friends and relatives. I hope they appreciated it.

I do wonder though, if it’s right to share my mania quite so readily. Some of my friends have really odd interests, like car racing. I wonder how Id feel if someone gave me tickets to a car race I had no wish to attend, because to them it would be the perfect gift.

Maybe I’m framing it wrong.

I could say: “I got you this egg. It’s for storing your car race tickets in. Whilst you think about car racing, there’s some tea and chocolate for you to enjoy”.

Then I’d likely hear ” I know how much you like to take a flask of tea to sporting events. Here’s a ticket to an event that lasts about 6 cups’ worth.”

It’s that sort of gift diplomacy that ensures we all live in harmony.

  1. I like that! It has that vintage charm that I’m sure most will appreciate.

Sometimes a gift doesn’t have to be useful, just a way to give a piece of yourself 🙂

  2. Ha, Mr @thedevotea, another entertaining post. I second @Xavier, what is your Easter blend? Fill us in.
Your little tea gifts sound absolutely lovely. Don’t waste these precious eggs on your unappreciative mates, give them all to me. Here’s is my address:

J.PS: Okay, I won’t be selfish. I’d share them with all of you here on teatra.de
